imagePhishing — in which users are tricked into giving up private information — has become a major cause of identity theft. While the savvy may scoff at and simply delete an e-mail that warns “Your account at our bank has been locked!”, the less clueful click on the links contained in them and, yes, dutifully enter extremely sensitive data on bogus Web sites.

The scams must work, because phishing e-mails keep coming, and the poisoned sites to which they continue continue to spring up. Now, a pair of researchers has infiltrated the world of phishers and share some fascinating details about how the sites work and who’s behind them in an interview with Net-Security.org.
